Hike in prices of commodities and services charged students creates financial restraint and unhealthy economic environment. Students are made to bear the brunt of the price hikes. The wanton increase in the price of accommodation for those who live off campus plus, the surge in motorcycle fare is taking a toll on the students.
The fees charged by landlords are exorbitant. While some students from affluent backgrounds may not see the fee charged as high, majority from average/ poor backgrounds feel differently. The students are being exploited by owners of these houses. Many a times you see about five students living in a single room to ease the financial burden. The fees charged for some houses are quite ridiculous when you consider their state. But because of lack of options, students rent  and live in them.
The amount of money charged by motorcyclists has also gone up. Students are made to pay exorbitant prices for even short distances. The responsibility lies with the management to cut the excesses of these hikes. This could be done via building additional hostel accommodation and imposition sensible motorcycle fares. The extra accommodation means that many students who are living off campus would be able to live in the hostels. A fall in demand for houses would lead to a fall in prices charged. Also, reduction of the bike fares would go a long way to offer some financial relief to the students.
