He said it would have been a terrible blow to his fledging career had his club been relegated.

Ichull, a product of the Kwara Football Academy said he enjoyed playing in the topflight and coming down to the lower division would have affected him psychologically.

According to him, even as his team played fantastic football throughout the season, a combination of ill-luck and other challenges they faced made them to struggle towards the end of the league.

He assured that come next season, ABS would have nothing to discuss concerning relegation as they have resolved to build on the experiences acquired so far to vie for the league title.

“I am really happy that we did not go down to the lower division. Personally I enjoyed playing in the Premier League and going down to play in the National League would have affected me psychologically.

“We have learnt a lot of lessons and we have resolved to step up our performance in the next season so that instead of discussing relegation, we would be talking about continental ticket”.

Ichull also called on the club’s management to go back to the drawing board to come out with better ways of motivating them to perform optimally.

“As we reflect on the season, I want to urge the management to also think of way to better motivate us for enhanced performance”.

Jigawa Golden Stars, Rising Stars and Niger Tornadoes were not as lucky as ABS as they went down to the lower division.
