The chairman Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees, Senator Walid Jibril, has said it is unjust that the presidential candidate of the party and its national chairman are from the north.
Jibril said this during interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today.
Atiku Abubakar, who is the presidential candidate of the party is from Adamawa State in the North East, while the party’s national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, is from Benue State in North Central.
Commenting on this, Jibrin said, “What is happening the PDP is not a problem; it’s just misunderstanding within the party and there can be misunderstanding everywhere. in your house, with your children, with your family.. The misunderstanding going on in the party is under control, not as exaggerated.
“To tell the truth, it will not be fair for the president of Nigeria to be from the north, the chairman of the party from the north and the BoT chairman from the north.”
Jibril said that some people are just blaming the BoT over the feud, saying they did not know what we are doing to resolve the issue.
He added, “The PDP has constitution and the constitution regarding the BoT. Based on this, the BoT has been working very hard and wet with many committees to ensure that we play our own role; and we have discussed enough and called a meeting of the BoT and finally we are collaborating with the national leadership of the party, and will look at the problem between Wike and the presidential candidate of the party and because of that a meeting is supposed to be held by the caucus of the party, BoT and the NERC.
“Everything is being concluded. Since the postponement of the meeting the BoT went ahead to discuss and agree on the formation of a committee now make up Atiku and Wike. We are fully aware and we support what that committee is doing. There is nothing we can do now without waiting for that committee to give its report. I’m in contact with them; I’m in contact with Fintiri and I’m in contact with the other side of the committee members. Until we see the report now the BoT will now come in a very strong way to take the decision.”
“Some people are just blaming the BoT they don’t know what we are doing; we don’t sale our party; we are not here to trade the party; we are here to make the party to be concrete, to agree and come together and put all the members together.”
Wike’s camp is said to be demanding the resignation of Ayu for peace to reign in the party.
