The former Ocean boys player was overlooked by Eagles coach Stephen Keshi in his final list for the just concluded World Cup in Brazil.
Emmanuel Emenike moved from Spartak Moscow to Turkish club, Fenerbahce, for £11.2 million last year .the former cape town player’s transfer was one of the highest involving a Nigerian in recent years, before then, the highest amount paid on a Nigerian footballer in the last eight years was £16 million which Chelsea coughed out to secure the services of John Obi Mikel from Lyn Oslo, in 2006.  The nearest to that was Obafemi Martins’ transfer from Inter Milan to Newcastle in 2006, which cost the latter €15 million.
Prior to Obi and Emenike’s transfers to Fenerbahce and Chelsea however, the only high profile transfer involving a Nigerian footballers, was  the $17 million Paris Saint-Germain paid to secure Jay Jay Okocha’s services from Fenerbahce after the 1998 World Cup, it was described at the time as the highest transfer fee for an African footballer.

West Brom manager Alan Irvine, having made his fifth signing of the summer, said: ‘Brown is a quality striker and I’m looking forward to working with him.
‘He’s a strong, quick, powerful player who likes to get in behind defences and has plenty of Champions League and international experience.’
Technical director Terry Burton added: ‘When I arrived at Albion the recruitment department flagged Brown up as the man at the top of their wish list.
‘It is a fantastic signing because of the quality and the potential of the player.
‘I can see that he really wants to be here and that he really wants to be playing in the Premier League.
‘He’s a dynamic player who likes to get in behind defenders and he has the pace to do so.
‘He gets himself into good scoring positions in the box and if there are opportunities then he will get on the end of them.
‘We’re looking forward to seeing him play for the club and scoring goals.’ The technical director said.
