The North East Development Commission (NEDC) has extended vital relief support to victims of insurgency attacks in Gwoza, Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) relocated to Ashigashiya, and flood-affected communities in Chibok and Damboa local government areas of Borno State.

In a statement issued in Abuja yesterday, the commission said the relief materials were officially presented to representatives of the affected communities during a brief ceremony held at the NEDC warehouse in Maiduguri.

National Assembly members representing the affected constituencies received the items on behalf of their people.

The presentation was made by the NEDC Borno State Coordinator, Engr. Mohammed U. Watsada, on behalf of the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Mohammed G. Alkali.

Engr. Watsada reiterated the commission’s commitment to delivering timely and targeted interventions to safeguard the welfare of residents across the North East.

The relief items distributed included essential food supplies, clothing, bedding, and building materials aimed at supporting both immediate needs and longer-term recovery.

The food items included rice, pasta, vegetable oil, sleeping mats, men’s and women’s clothing, bags of cement, ceiling boards, and roofing sheets.

Grateful beneficiaries commended the commission for its swift intervention, describing the support as timely and lifesaving. Community representatives pledged to ensure the equitable and transparent distribution of the relief items to all affected persons.
