Idriss was born in Kirfi LGA of Bauchi State and studied at Bauchi College of Arts and Science, 1987, obtained a bachelor degree in Economics from the University of Maiduguri in 1990, a master in Business Administration from same university in 1999 and another master in Disaster Risk Management and Development Studies from Ahmadu Bello University in 2012.
The new DG started his working career as a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Teacher, Government t Commercial Secondary School, Wudil Kano State between 1990 and 1991, later joining Whitesands Insurance Brokers as an Assistant Manager from 1991 to 1992, rising to Manager (Claims/Underwriting) from 1992 to 1993 and becoming General Manager/CEO of the firm from 1993 to 1998.
He however became the Zonal Manager, NICON Insurance Corporation, Maiduguri from 1998 to 2000 and Manager (General Accident) from 2000 to 2001, then Zonal Manager, Kaduna Zone from 2001 to 2007, rising to become Chief Operating Officer (Marketing &Strategies) at the company’s head office Abuja from 2007 to 2008.
