A cassava village which will provide over 2,000 jobs for youths and women is under construction in Niger State.
The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD)-Value Chain Development Programme Coordinator in Niger State, Dr. Mathew Ahmed, who disclosed this to newsmen in Minna, said the agency has budgeted N150 million for the completion of the cassava village in Lokogoma in Wushishi Local Government Area of the state.
He said the village would be a centre, where cassava root would be peeled, ground and fried, adding that the agency was also on the lookout for marketers for the products.
Ahmed stated that the aim of constructing the village was to encourage farmers to go into other production aspects of cassava and create jobs for youths in the state.
