Hajiya Chinwe Jemilat Aiyelagbegan, however, said the recent phenomenon of female suicide bombing cannot be a justification to ban the use of Hijab by Muslim girls and women.
Hajiya Jemilat, who is the author of “Islam: the Fountain of Life,” stated this while delivering a lecture during the propagation and launching of Hijab for Muslim women and daughters organised by Jamuiyat Nasir Al-Fridaous Tijaniyah, Ilorin. She noted that following recent experiences of female suicide bombers, those who have misconception about Islam had called for ban on Hijab by Muslim women, saying it is unacceptable.
She maintained that Hijab has been mandated upon all Muslim women to cover and guide their chastity.
Hajiya Jemilat said: “As Muslims, Allah created us and gave us the Holy Qur’an and Hadith to use as manual. The Qur’an tells us how to live our daily lives; everything we have to do as Muslims. Therefore, Hijab is the identity of every Muslim woman, it is not a fashion statement or to please the world but it is Allah’s injunction.”
She also decried the rise in rape cases, saying that the menace is traceable to indecent dressing by girls and women, noting that Islam instructs women to cover their nakedness.
Other speakers at the launch, including the former Grand Khadi of the state Sharia Court of Appeal, Justice Abdulkadir Imam Fulani, a Khadi at the court, Justice Abdullateef Kamaldeen, stressed the significance of Hijab for Muslim women.  
Different methods of putting on hijab were displayed for women and girls who attended the occasion.
