Alhaji Mohammed made the statement in Abuja while receiving the Mbido Igbo Association in his office.  The Minister said the festival has been recognized as unique in Igboland as it stands on the tripod that upholds Nigeria’s culture.

 He charged the association to use the core values of the festival to dissuade the youths from violence, kidnapping, thuggery and armed robbery.  The Minister however assured the association of his Ministry’s readiness to add value to the festival and increase tourist’s interests in the community.

Leader of the 10-man delegation, His Royal Majesty Igwe Dr. Martin Nwafor Ezeh-Idu ll of Igbo Uwani and Chairman Board of Trustees Mbido Igbo Association, IgboUkwu Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State, said the Igbos want the Ministry to identify with their efforts to research, promote and preserve the great cultural, arts and tourism potentials of the South East.

He used the opportunity to invite the Ministry to participate fully in this year’s festival taking place from August 24th – 28th at the National Yam House, IgboUkwu, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State.
