The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Ridwan Disu, has called for enhanced collaboration with journalists in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to improve security communication and bolster public trust.

IGP Disu made the call while addressing members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council, during their congress in Abuja on Saturday.

He commended the territory’s journalists for their vital role in public enlightenment and national development, noting that his relationship with the media has always been rooted in professionalism and mutual respect.

“I have always maintained a respectful and mutually beneficial relationship with journalists,” Disu stated. “They are professionals who deserve respect and should never be treated as beggars.”

In her response, the Chairman of the NUJ FCT Council, Comrade Grace Ike, congratulated Disu on his appointment as IGP, describing him as a longtime friend of the press. Ike expressed confidence in his leadership and assured him of the council’s readiness to collaborate with the police in reporting security matters objectively.
