The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, led an enlightenment campaign to Yobe secondary schools and assures 24-hour security in the schools across the state

The IGP who visited Government Girls College Damaturu on Saturday, said the campaign would counter Boko haram ideology that affects enrollment and attendance in the state.

He told the students to disregard earlier threats by the insurgents and concentrate on achieving their educational goals and dreams.

 

"Police will be in your schools on a 24-hour basis and we solicited for vital information"

 

He called on the people of the state and well-meaning Nigerians to partner security agents in the fight against criminal activities.

 

Meanwhile, the IGP has shelved his visit to Government Girls Science and Technical College Dapchi over speculation that Boko-Haram militants are on their way to deliver the last schoolgirls.

 

In the GGSTC, Daily Trust observed students in large number packing luggage out of the school.

 

An academic staff of the school, Mohammed Bashir, said they were SSIII students  relocated to Government Girls Secondary School Nguru to write their final year examination.
