The Gombe State Board of Internal Revenue Service has requested the collaboration of court registrars in the state to ensure effective collection of remitance from courts.

Chairman of the board, Alhaji Mohammed Adamu Damji, made the request in Gombe while going round Area and Upper Area Courts to sensitise them on the need to remit tax and other court charges to the state government.

Represented by Mr Weesly Audu, the chairman said the board would soon introduce a modern system of remitting all the fines and other charges being collected at the courts directly to the government coffers.

“The board will soon introduce POS and other means of payment like online payment in all the Area and Upper Area courts for easy payment of all charges,” he said.

The chairman added that when the modern method is introduce, the board would give the chief registrar of the state High Court access to monitor all payments made by the courts, to ensure transparency.

Also speaking during the sensitization, the Chief Registrar, Barrister Auwal Haruna, urged the court registrars to collect only the actual amount without overcharging their clients.

He cautioned them to desist from withholding the revenue meant for the state, adding that anyone found wanting would face the full wrath of the law.
