IGR: Kwara rakes in N26.9bn in one year

The Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KW-IRS) said it has N27bn from Internally Generated Revenue in 2021.

This was contained in a statement signed by its Executive Chairman, Shade Omoniyi at the weekend. The disclosure is coming on the heels of some critics in the state who accused the service of operating in secrecy.

But the statement disclosed that the total IGR generated for the year 2021, represents 95.61% achievement of its annual budgetary target of N28.1bn.

Shade described the feat as the highest target hit since the agency was founded in 2016.

Giving a quarterly breakdown of the IGR for the year, the service said it generated; N9.6, N6.5, N5.7 and N5.2 for the four quarters.

The Executive Chairman noted that the N9.6bn recorded in the first quarter in 2021 was the highest in the history of the Service since its establishment without the introduction of new taxes or extraordinary items.
