Ijaw youths, under the platform of the Ijaw Youths Council (IYC) Worldwide, has called on politicians from Ijaw extraction to close ranks and work in unity for the development of Bayelsa State and other states where the Ijaw are found.
The president of the group, Peter Timothy Igbifa, made the call in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital on Friday when he led members of the executive council to give Governor Douye Diri a letter of credence confirming an award bestowed on him by the youth as the Grand Ambassador of IYC.

He commended the governor for his commitment to the development and progress of Bayelsa and the Ijaw nation. He also described his leadership style as outstanding and credible.
Diri described the letter as a strategic gesture and huge encouragement for him to do more.
