Jijiwa who spent 20 years with VON joined the organisation in 1993 from the News Agency of Nigeria where he was the Assistant General Manager (Services).
In a prayer organised in his honour by the Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria (MMPN), Abuja chapter, where he was a Patron, at the Radio House mosque, the chairman of the MMPN, Alhaji Abdulrahaman Balogun who extolled the virtues and qualities of Jijiwa called on Muslims to always be a good example for others.
He said Jijiwa has clearly shown how a Muslim should relate with everybody irrespective of religious or cultural identity adding that the most important thing is to lead by example as that is the only way people can remember a leader who left his imprints in the sand of time.
The Director General of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Mallam Ladan Salihu said Jijiwa was a leader who does not discriminate but who always carry people along and relate well with workers at all levels.
He prayed that Allah would continue to guard Jijiwa in his next line of action.
Speaking at the event, Jijiwa called on his successor to continue to maintain the family spirit in the VON and make sure that he stand on very sound, solid and united ground, saying that all human beings are just instruments in the hands of Allah.
“I urged whoever would succeed me to discourage all forms of divisions that are likely to distract the organisation from moving forward. Humility should be watchword of every leader who wants to succeed,” he said.
