Former Super Eagles goaltender, Ike Shorunmu has joined the technical crew of Abia Warriors Football Club of Umuahia as the new goalkeepers coach.
The Ogun State-born shot-stopper was unveiled earlier today at the club’s Secretariat in Umuahia by the Chairman of Abia Warriors, Coach John Obuh in a brief but impressive ceremony witnessed by members of management.
Shorunmu is expected to bring his wealth of experience to the goalkeeping department of Abia Warriors.
The 55-year-old was once the goalkeeper trainer at Enyimba and Heartland. He recently served as goalkeeper trainer for the Super Eagles.

Speaking during the unveiling, coach Obuh said he decided to go for Shorunmu because of his vast experience and antecedents hoping that his addition will be a big influence.
On his own, Shorunmu said he settled for Abia Warriors based on personal conviction and expressed confidence that the team will achieve greater success this season.
“They need my service and from what I saw and from my conversation with the chairman, I am so happy and I will do my best for the team. My ambition is to do good for the season. I am not making any promises, I believe in practicality on the field rather than making some noise. The job we will do with Coach Obuh will be perfect,” he said.
It will be recalled that the Abia State governor, Alex Otti recently appointed Coach Obuh who was a former national coach of the Flying Eagles to chair Abia Warriors management team for more efficient delivery.
