The leader of Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in Imo State, Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere, has congratulated Hon. Fred Abedi on his election as the leader of the party’s caucus in the House of Representatives.
Abedi, a federal lawmaker from Bayelsa, was elected at the PDP House of Representatives Caucus meeting on Wednesday night.
Ugochinyere who is the member representing Ideato North/South of Imo State in the House of Representatives expressed confidence in the ability of the new PDP caucus leader to restore the lost glory of the main opposition party as far as the Green Chamber is concerned.
The chairman, House committee on Petroleum Resources(Downstream) said the emergence of Abedi as the PDP caucus leader was an indication that light would always prevail over darkness.
According to the spokesperson of the coalition of opposition lawmakers, the election of the chairman House committee on FCT Area Councils and Ancillary Matters was a signal to Minister Nyesom Wike that he can not continue to hold PDP to ransom to the benefit of his paymasters.
“Today history was made as despite the wicked plot of the Wike group, the PDP Caucus in the House of Representatives stood its grounds and elected the Rt Hon. Fred Abedi as its leader.
“I therefore, congratulate my dear colleague and leader on his election which is a watershed in our quest to reposition our great party as a formidable force ahead of future electoral constest, especially the 2027 general election.
“We witnessed with outer dismay the display of shame by the supposed opposition leader, Hon. Kingsley Chinda who while acting the script of his boss Wike did all he could humanly possible to stop the revolution but to no avail as the voice of reason prevailed.
“This is a clear message to Wike and his allies commanded by Chinda that their plan to keep PDP perpetually weak ahead of the 2027 general election can not work. As Abedi settles down for the task ahead of him, I assure him of my unwavering support to succeed.
“Together, we will rescue our party from the shackles of implosion and all other antics of Wike and APC.”
