Ikhana stated that his invitation was not on sentiments but to scout for fresh players for the women’s national team.

“The list is not too much. You know we are rebuilding the national team and I don’t want people recommending players. I want to see them play myself,” said the coach.

“There is need for competition for places and that is what we are working at.”

He added, “like I have said before, any player who wants to wear the white and green colours of this country must be ready to give 120 per cent at all times.”

Ikhana hinted that the first phase of camping would last 10 days, beginning from this weekend.

The Falcons face Zimbabwe in a two-legged qualifier for a place at the African Women’s Championship in Equatorial Guinea in November.

Nigeria is the defending champions after they deposed Equatorial Guinea two years ago in South Africa.
