Matchday 14 of the 2025/26 season of the Nigeria Premier Football League presents a slate of fixtures loaded with contrasting pressures from title-chasing sides looking to consolidate their early-season form to struggling teams desperate to reset their campaigns.

With key battles at both ends of the table, several matches carry significant implications for standings, confidence and momentum. Weekend Trust presents a full preview of all ten games to be played this weekend.

 

Kano Pillars vs Ikorodu City

Table-topping Ikorodu City travel to struggling Kano Pillars with confidence after their Matchday 13 win pushed them to the summit. While Ikorodu have shown resilience and the ability to grind out results, Pillars sit near the bottom, undone by inconsistency and too many defeats.

Recent meetings between the sides are limited but evenly split. Ikorodu will try to control tempo, avoid risky turnovers and strike on the counter. Pillars, however, must play with greater aggression at home particularly pressing higher in midfield and capitalising on set-piece opportunities. Ikorodu remain favourites, but Kano’s urgency could make it feisty.

 

Kwara United vs Shooting Stars (3SC)

Enugu Rangers vs Niger Tornadoes

Remo Stars remain one of the NPFL’s most consistent sides in recent seasons, and they face a Barau FC team still learning the demands of top-flight football. With limited head-to-head history, Remo’s experience gives them a clear advantage.

Expect Remo to dominate possession, stretch Barau with pace from the flanks and rely on overlapping fullbacks. Barau will sit deep and search for counters, but the size of Remo’s victory may hinge on how effectively they break down the low block.

Victory for Barau FC will be sweet revenge for Wednesday’s 1-0 loss suffered by Kano Pillars to the reigning champions

 

Abia Warriors vs Bendel Insurance

High-flying Abia Warriors continue to build their season on strong home form. Bendel Insurance, competitive and often resilient on their travels, have historically held their own in this fixture.

Expect a balanced contest with Abia dictating midfield control and Bendel seeking opportunities in quick transitions. Precision in finishing and set-piece execution could determine the outcome.

 

Warri Wolves vs Kun Khalifat

The head-to-head slightly favours Enyimba. Katsina must be clinical on the break and defensively organised, as Enyimba typically seek overloads on the wings and midfield control.

Enyimba will be happy with the fact that Katsina United are going to miss their vociferous home supporters. The “Chanji boys” have been banished from their traditional home ground, Muhammadu Dikko Stadium Katsina over crowd trouble.

 

Nasarawa United vs El-Kanemi Warriors

Nasarawa United, one of the season’s standout sides, rely heavily on their strong home form. El-Kanemi Warriors sit mid-table but are always threatening in counter-attacking scenarios.

The history between these teams is competitive and venue-dependent. Nasarawa go in as favourites with their possession-based approach, but El-Kanemi’s countering strength means they remain capable of snatching something if Nasarawa leave space.
