The Ikoyi Club Ladies Golf Section will celebrate its golden jubilee with a landmark open golf tournament scheduled for November 11–15, 2025.
In a statement, Ladies’ Captain, Mrs. Peggy Onwu, described the championship as a truly special occasion: “This tournament is unique, as it marks 50 years of commitment, skills development, and building connections with ladies across Africa and beyond.”
This year’s edition, tagged “The 50th”, not only celebrates resilience and excellence but also reflects the 2025 Ikoyi Ladies’ theme, “Go Beyond Golf and Golfing.” The event is expected to draw around 200 players from Nigeria and across Africa.
Participants have already registered from Kenya, Uganda, Ghana, Zambia, and other countries. According to Mrs. Onwu: “It has been a full calendar year for ladies in the continent with several open tournaments being held. It will therefore be unpredictable to know what country or who the winner of the 50th edition of Ikoyi Ladies Open 2025 will be.”
She added that beyond competition, the tournament underscores the true spirit of the game: “This will also bring out the essence of golf: build friendships, humanity, skills, leadership qualities, and togetherness while also building connections with ladies across Africa and beyond.”
