Over 100 golfers, including cancer survivors, will gather at Ikoyi Golf Club on Thursday, May 8, for the third edition of the Swing Against Cancer Golf Day, a charity tournament organized by the Foundation for Cancer Care to raise awareness and funds for cancer prevention and treatment.

This year’s event, played in a four-player team format, promises spirited competition with a purpose — supporting the foundation’s outreach programs, particularly the acquisition of a cutting-edge mobile cancer screening bus and funding radiotherapy treatments for underserved patients.

A major highlight of the day will be the participation of Farooq Oreagba, a cancer survivor and vocal advocate for awareness. His presence is expected to inspire both players and spectators with a message of resilience and hope.

Chairman of the Foundation, Prof. Chumy Nwogu, underscored the urgency of awareness and early detection in tackling the cancer burden in Nigeria.

“Awareness and early detection are crucial in our fight against cancer. This tournament not only raises funds but helps bring the message to the forefront,” he said.

The event blends sport with purpose, using the golf course as a rallying ground for impactful change in cancer care.
