Illegal sack: National Industrial Court gives Energy Commission till Apr 9

The National Industrial Court in Abuja has fixed April 9 for hearing in the motion seeking to enforce its earlier order for the reinstatement of a director in the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), Engr. Charles Okechukwu Ani.

Justice Sanusi Kado last week dismissed a counter affidavit by the ECN challenging the enforcement of the court’s order reinstating the director.

The commission, through its lawyer, Agebe Odeh drew the court’s attention to its leave to start fresh appeal at the Court of Appeal in Abuja against the earlier decision of the appellate court on January 30, 2018 dismissing the appeal of the commission.

Ani’s counsel, B.O. Aleke had brought the application for the court to approve the enforcement of the earlier judgement by sealing off the headquarters of the ECN in Abuja pending compliance to the order.

Parties are now to file and adopt their addresses on the validity of the motion of the ECN before the Court of Appeal challenging the enforcement of the order of the National Industrial Court.
