Illiteracy is one of the major factors that caused terrorism in Nigeria, Barrister Innocent Nkemjika Ezeugo has said.
Ezeugo, who made the statement in an interview with Daily Trust, in Abuja, said it was easier to convince and lure illiterates to kill innocent people.
“An illiterate can easily be convinced that by killing innocent people he gets automatic ticket to heaven. This is so because of his inability to read, understand and give the right interpretation to the Qur’an or any information given to him.”
According to him, an illiterate only depends on those they trust as leaders for their own actions.
He however said that leadership failure is another factor that put this country under the siege of terrorism.
