I”m not fighting anybody over 2019 – Senator Wakili

The senator representing Bauchi South senatorial district in the Senate, Senator Ali Wakili, has denied an allegation that he is opposed to President Muhammadu Buhari and the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) on whose platform he was elected.

In a remark by his spokesperson, Mohammed Ladan Ahmed, the senator also denied allegations that he is fighting the state governor, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar or any elected official from the state.

He said "I have never declared war on any elected or appointed officer and I am not fighting with anybody in the state as well as the federal level.

"I am in total support of the change mantra of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration and I will continue to support him for the development of the nation".

Senator Wakili who is the Chairman, Senate Committee on Poverty Alleviation said, "I am yet to complete even half of my tenure, not to talk of 2019 because it’s only Allah that knows who will be alive to witness 2019 general elections.”

‎"I am only working to better the lives of my people by providing constituency projects for them. In the last one year, I have donated laboratory equipment to 35 schools in my constituency as well as embarked on drilling of boreholes, distribution of fertilizers, motorcycles, cars and other items to uplift the living standard of the electorates”, he said.

He however stated that he remains grateful to people of his constituency and the people of Bauchi state for electing him and promised that he will continue to serve their interests.

It would be recalled that recently there was clash of interests between groups supporting lawmakers from the state and other groups supporting the state governor.
