Billionaire American rapper and entrepreneur, Kanye West, has claimed he is richest black man of all time.

According to Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Nigeria’s Aliko Dangote whose net worth was estimated at $18.6 billion as of October 12, 2022, is the world’s richest black person.

But in an interview with Daily Mail, West accused the media of disrespecting him by being calling him a rapper.

He said, “I love rappers. Rappers are artists. But when the media calls me a rapper specifically to not bring up the fact that I’m worth $11 billion, that I’m the richest black man of all time, that I’m a billionaire and I’m a tycoon, that I’m a visionary.

“And if I say that, if I say those three things, then they’ll say I’m a narcissist, right? But they push you down so much that you gotta fight just to say who you are.”

In 2021, Bloomberg reported that West was officially worth a whopping $6.6 billion, making him the richest Black man in America’s history at that time.

Kanye West’s controversy  ertyjm of being the richest black person comes amid his faceoff with international social movement, Black Lives Matter (BLM).

West had described the movement established to eradicate white supremacy, racism, and discrimination experienced by black communities, as a scam.

He said this on his Instagram page while responding to  criticising him over the ‘White Lives Matter’ T-shirt he wore at his fashion show.

West angered the black people who called him out for trivializing the Black Lives Movement after wearing a shirt emblazoned with ‘White Lives Matter’ during his Yeezy SZN 9 presentation in Paris.

Reacting to the heat he received, the rapper said, “Everyone now knows that Black Lives Matter was a scam, it’s over. You’re welcome.”
