Dozens of Imams in Jigawa State have offered special prayers for national peace, unity and divine guidance for Nigeria and its leaders.

The prayer session, organised by the Association of Nigerian Imams, took place at the Dutse Emir’s Palace Juma’at Mosque, Garu.

Participants recited the entire Holy Qur’an and prayed for wisdom and success for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, state governors, and Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi.

The session was led by the association’s National Chairman, Sheikh Muhammad Adam, and attended by the Secretary to the Jigawa State Government, Malam Bala Ibrahim; the Emir of Dutse, Alhaji Mohammed Hamim Nuhu; and other government officials.

Speaking after the programme, Sheikh Adam said the initiative was part of a nationwide exercise tagged National Prayer for Peace, Unity and Divine Guidance, aimed at seeking Allah’s intervention in Nigeria’s affairs. He described the prayer as timely, noting that the country was at a critical stage requiring strong leadership and unity.

He disclosed that the prayer programme, which began in Kano on January 15, 2026, is ongoing across the 19 northern states, with Jigawa hosting its session on January 21.

The Emir of Dutse urged Imams to intensify preaching on peace and unity, cautioning against negative remarks about leaders and encouraging continued prayers for national development.
