Muslims in Nigeria have been advised to imbibe the spirit of unity and live harmoniously among themselves in the society.
Lagos state Commissioner for Home Affairs, Abdulhakeem Abdullateef, who was represented by Director of Religious Affairs in the Ministry of Home Affairs, Alhaji Abdulhakeem Adetoro,gave the advice at the inauguration ceremony of the executives of Ikorodu Divisional Muslim Community in Lagos.
“The Muslim community should be united, tolerate and love one another. They should not see themselves as member of NASFAT, Ansarudeen etc. They should see themselves as one in the propagation of Islam. Peace is our priority, therefore I want to advise all Muslims and residents of Ikorodu to live in peace because that is the only way we can enjoy the dividends of democracy,” he said.
He urged the newly inaugurated executives of the Muslim community to unite Islamic organisations in Ikorodu division saying “ they should continue to speak with one voice, so that they would be able to relate with government together. If government has any message for them, the executive would be a channel of communication between Islamic organisations within Ikorodu division.”
