Immigration officer remanded over passport racketeering

An immigration officer working at the Katsina State passport office and two others were yesterday remanded in prison for their alleged involvement in passport related offences.

The officer, Peter Ethan, was arraigned along with Okoro Kelechi Michael and Okoro Nnena Jennifer before a Federal High Court in Katsina on a three-count charge of conspiracy and making false statements with a view of obtaining a Nigerian passport.

They however pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The judge, Justice Hadiza Shagari, ordered the trio to be remanded in prison till November 13 when their bail applications would be entertained.
