Imo state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has commenced contempt proceedings against the National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole.
The party also suspended the Chairman of Oshiomhole-inaugurated caretaker committee, Prince Marcellinus Nlemigbo.
The state chairman of the party, Mr. Daniel Nwafor, who disclosed this at a press briefing in Owerri on Wednesday, accused the National Chairman of disobeying a court order which recognised him and the entire executive members as the validly elected Exco of the party in the state.
According to him, the chairman has no powers to dissolve an elected executive of the party, adding that the action contravened an order of the court which recognised him as the duly elected chairman of the party.
He advised President Muhammadu Buhari to closely monitor the activities of Oshiomhole, which he described as inimical to the progress of the party
He said, “We have commenced contempt proceedings against the National Chairman because he has no powers to dissolve an elected executive especially when we have a court judgement validating our election.”
He added that the disciplinary committee has no powers to summon the state governor as it’s only the elected chairman that has powers to set up such a committee.
On the suspension of the caretaker committee chairman, Nwafor said that he was accused by his ward members of anti-party activities, stressing that the action emanated from his ward and validated by the local government and state chapters.
