The Vice President General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs and Grand Imam of Umuofor Mosque in Oguta, Imo State, Dr Abdulfatah Chimaeze Emetuma, has advised Muslims in Nigeria to continue practising the teachings of Ramadan beyond the holy month.
In his Eid-el-Fitr sermon, Dr Emetuma stressed the importance of applying the lessons learned during Ramadan in daily life, noting that the sacrifices made hold significance when integrated into everyday practices.
He urged all Nigerians to pray for the country and its leaders while supporting government initiatives aimed at national development.
Meanwhile, Northern communities residing in Imo State expressed gratitude to Governor Hope Uzodimma for ensuring a peaceful celebration of Eid-el-Fitr.
Suleiman Ibrahim, a former Special Adviser to the governor, commended Uzodimma’s hospitality towards Northern communities and pledged continued support for his administration’s efforts in transforming the state.
During the Sallah festivities, prayers were offered for the governor’s aspirations to elevate the state and promote harmony among all residents, irrespective of origin.
The Northern community reiterated its commitment to fostering peaceful coexistence with both host communities and non-indigenous residents.
Ibrahim advised fellow northerners to uphold peace and refrain from actions that could disrupt tranquillity, particularly during and after the Sallah period.
