The authorities of Imo State University, Owerri, said they are working to return six deregistered courses. The courses included law, medicine and medical lab courses among others.

 

The Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Adaobi Obasi, disclosed this to journalists in Owerri. 

Obasi, who was represented by the Registrar, Mr. Emeka Ejimkonye, said the team from Council for Legal Education has visited the institution for full accreditation of law course, adding that the institution is also reaching out to relevant accreditation bodies to re- accredit courses like medicine and others.

The VC, who said the university gives free education to students, said natives pay ‘ancillary fees’ of N19,500 which covers medical, library, ID card fees among others while non-natives pay the sum of N190,000 for law and N150,000 for other courses as the case may be.

The VC denied involvement of the school management in extorting monies from students to facilitate the return of deregistered courses.
