In appreciation of Daura children’s hospital project

The Ground-Breaking/Foundation -Laying Ceremony of the Daura Children’s Hospital took place on February 29, 2020,  but for the coronavirus, construction of the hospital would have reached advanced stage of completion in view of the seriousness with which the ceremony was conducted.

The over 100-bed hospital is not a government project but the initiative of a philanthropist, a nationalist, an industrialist and Founder/CEO of Belema Oil, Tein Teinbo Seliyefubara Jack-Rich.

Jack-Rich is the President and Founder of Belema Oil Producing Ltd, an indefatigable philanthropist, strategic facilitator, a nationalist and firm believer in the sanctity of the Nigerian nation.

A good example of his nationalistic posture is that, Tein, who hails from Rivers, chose to build a state-of-the-art children’s hospital in far away Daura town in Katsina State.

This gesture will ever remain highly appreciated by the people of Daura, and is the genesis of this article.

Daura people are highly appreciative of this gesture.

In appreciation of this project and provision of potable water to selected areas in Daura and many other parts of Nigeria, the Emir of Daura, His Royal Highness, Alhaji (Dr)  Umar Farouk Umar, CON,  conferred on him the title of Sarkin Ruwan-Hausa, meaning Chief Water Provider of Hausa Land.

The ground-breaking ceremony of the Daura Children’s Hospital was attended by people from all walks of life including His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Katsina State, Aminu Bello Masari, the Minister of State for Health, Sen Adeleke Mamora, The Emir of Daura, His Royal Highness, Alhaji (Dr) Umar Farouk Umar, CON and a Katsina-based business mogul, Alhaji Dahiru Mangal, among many others.

All speakers at the ceremony, including Governor Masari, HRH Emir of Daura and the Hon Minister of State for Health, extolled the good virtues of Tein Teinbo Jack-Rich, describing him as a philanthropist with a difference whose wealth is not for him and members of his family alone but for everybody whom his good helping hands can reach.

The emir said the people of Daura Emirate are highly grateful to him, adding that the hospital project is unmatched and unprecedented, and that when completed, it will go along way in promoting healthcare delivery to children in the area and beyond.

In his response,  Tein said the wealth given to him by the Almighty is not only meant for him and his family alone but only channeled through him to help those who do not have.

He therefore urged all wealthy individuals to dedicate their wealth to helping others, especially the indigent.

Tein said the hospital is meant to promote healthcare delivery to children in the area, the state and neighbouring states in general.

However, the story of the Daura Children’s Hospital cannot be complete without the mention of the contributions of some Daura indigenes, especially the former Minister of Agriculture and Danmasanin Daura, Alhaji Sani Zangon Daura, who facilitated the coming of the hospital to Daura and donated a piece of land for the project.

Also, worthy of mention are the first Military Administrator of Yobe State and retired AIG, Alhaji Sani Daura Ahmed, who is the Zannan Daura, Hon. Alhaji Nasiru Sani Zangon Daura, Member Representing Baure/Zango Federal Constituency, the Wazirin Daura and Chairman, Nigerian Railway Commission, Engineer Ibrahim Alhassan Musa, and Hon Zayya Ibrahim, a House of Representatives Member.

The people of Daura will ever remain grateful to Tein, and all lovers of the town should appreciate what this nationalist, industrialist and philanthropist has singled out Daura town to do.

Many voluntary organisations in the emirate, such as the Daura Emirate Development Forum, the Daura Emirate Coalition of Associations, the Daura Emirate Development Association and Daura Consortium of Associations, were all represented at the ceremony and were full of praises for Tein.

Unfortunately, this laudable project had to be halted because of the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic that is ravaging the whole world. But for this pandemic, this project would have reached a very advanced stage.

The Daura Emirate Development Forum and the entire people of Daura, while thanking Tein once again, are happy  that the contractors have since resumed work immediately in order to ensure early completion of the project.
