I am surprised and disappointed by the silence of the Federal government over the cynical offer made by Theresa May, the British Prime Minister during her visit late last year, to recruit unemployed Nigerian youth into the British Military service. I am utterly disgusted that no official comment on the advert currently making the rounds on the social media under the caption: US ARMY RECRUITMENT FOR NON CITIZENS
AND ANYONE WHO CAN TRANSLATE AFRICAN LANGUAGE INTO ENGLISH FOR ARMY INTELLIGENCE! [MY EMPHASIS]
Theresa May’s insulting ‘offer’ should have been rebuffed swiftly and firmly when and where it was made. She should have been told to go and sort out her BREXIT mess elsewhere, rather than coming to Nigeria to entice our unemployed, and sometimes gullible and unpatriotic youth into the slavery which our forefathers went through during the First and Second World Wars. She should have been told that, rather come here with an ‘offer’ to recruit, she should ha.ve come to tender an apology for the inhuman treatment meted out to our forefathers during the wars of colonial conquest, the two world wars, and the Nigerian Civil War. She should have been told very forcefully that the era of bullying and intimidation is over, and that she should have tried her foolish antics in the Irish Republic first, before coming to Africa. She should have been told that many Nigerians would see the break-up of the United Kingdom as a result of a No Deal exit from the European Union as a well-deserved nemesis for the criminal and despicable role it played in the Nigerian Civil War [1967-1970].The British Ambassador should have been summoned immediately after the speech, and bluntly told that Nigeria was not in the mood for such errant nonsense and that Britain should steer her sinking ship to other shores.
The US ARMY RECRUITMENT post on the social media is a confirmation of the fears expressed by many Nigerians during the rancour over legalizing the Nigerian Peace
Corps, and may be of particular interest to the Security Agencies investigating ‘Ambassador’ Akoh’s activities and their negative relevance for our national security.
The Peace Corps has always been a clandestine American organisation which helps the CIA with intelligence gathering. This was the role it played in the 1960s in many West African countries including Nigeria. Those behind the current advertisement should be identified and punished and their seditious activities halted in the overall interest of our National Security.
