The literary event, which took place at the Gombe State University hall, was organized by the Halima Factor Community Initiative with the support and collaboration of the Government of Gombe State and the state’s university. The occasion was held to encourage youth to discover and utilize their talents with the theme, ‘Literature for Peace and Sustainable Development.’
The literary event was the first of its kind in the state. The State Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, represented by the Commissioner for Higher Education, Dr. Umar Wade, pledged continuous support for the initiative, the Vice Chancellor, represented by the Dean, Faculty of Arts, Dr. Nereus Y. Tadi, rounded off his welcoming address with a poem titled, “News” which speaks about the recent violence and tension due to insecurity in the region, while the guest speaker, National Vice President of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) AlhajiDenjaAbdullahi, in his speech, stated that religion and tribe are irrelevant in the march towards development.   
The Halima Factor Initiative which had earlier donated books published by the founder, Halima M. Usman, to schools in the state, also made a presentation of over a hundred books to the State Government at the occasion.
