The royal father who said the secret to the peaceful co-existence of adherents of the two religions in his domain is the fairness with which he treats everybody, called for humility and honesty in all human dealings.
The Lamido spoke while receiving a team of agriculture consultants, led by Professor Abba Gambo at his palace in Mubi recently.  
He said before insurgency in the North-East crept into Adamawa and Mubi in  particurlar, where suspected Boko Haram insurgents gunned down scores of students of the Federal Polytechnic Mubi in a pre-dawn attack, his emirate was the most peaceful.
The emir, who is regarded by his subjects as the most humble and warm-hearted royal father in the country, narrated how he judged a property dispute between a Muslim and a Christian  at his palace some few years back.
“I operate an open door policy here. I am availble 24 hours, if you want to see me. I am a leader that try to lead by example and I treat everybody fairly and objectively, be you a Christian or Muslim. The greatest man before Almighty Allah is the one who fears Him most, so we have to be careful,” he said.
According to him, there was a case of a Muslim who sold a house to a Christian at Nassarawo area of Mubi, stating that inside the house there was a mosque and the landlord’s brothers and friends asked him to tell the Christian that they have sold only the house to him and not the mosque.
“The case was taken to Mubi South Police Division, but the DPO brought the case before me and I told him that this is a simple case. I asked him to bring along with him the following day, the seller of the house, the buyer and the Jauro (Village Head).
“When they came I confirmed from the Muslim that he actually sold the house to the Christian. I then asked the Jauro if he testified in the sale of the house and he said he had signed and even collected his percentage. I then asked the Christian if he would allow somebody to enter his house and he said yes. So I told the Muslim to go there the following morning and remove the roof and the blocks of the mosque and leave the place for the Christian. That was how I solved the case,” he said.
The royal father added that there was a man who had a parcel of land in Mubi with valid documents and when he decided to go to Port Harcourt to do business, he handed over the land and the papers to his younger brother. But before the man could return to Mubi, the younger brother sold the land.
“When he came back, he came straight to me and said your highness I didn’t ask my brother to sell my land but he sold it. Invite the people who bought the land and your younger brother let them come, I told him.  It took us one month to investigate and after that we assembled all the parties and I told them that the sale of the land was not properly done. I told them that if they want to buy the land here is the owner of the land let them talk to him. But the buyer, who was a pastor, told me that my palace was not a court room.
“So they left and I asked the owner of the land to go to court and sue and come back so that I will provide a lawyer for him. That was done and for five months the case dragged in court and when the pastor found that the case was not going to favour him, he brought an entourage to me and they said in Hausa: ‘In da muke gudu muka sake dawowa’. They then pleaded with me to help them retrieve their money from the younger brother. The plot was sold for N700,000, but the owner of the plot said he could only sell his land for N1million and the deal was sealed. I then asked the judge to go and retrieve the N700,000 from the younger brother. So the issue was settled. As a leader, be fair to everybody,” he said.
The emir used the opportunity to advise the media, as development partners, to be fair and objective in their coverage of news, urging them to report widely the achievements of Adamawa State government in the area, of agriculture and skills acquisition.
