As a result of general apathy towards government policies and programmes in Nigeria, many people initially never believed in YouWiN.  But the number of people that attended a recent YouWiN Business Clinic at the Sokoto state Polytechnic Auditorium was a turning point.
The participants at the January 27, 2014 event were taken through the various stages of how to complete the processes of the competition part of the programme. The number of registered applicants recorded in Brinin Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara Support Centre was proof that people can be carried along in policy formulation by any government where there is political will. The Sokoto state coordinator of National Directorate of Employment (NDE), Alhaji Haruna Zubir Usman took participants through various initiatives of poverty reduction programme in Nigeria and why YouWiN was different.
YouWiN is an innovative business plan competition aimed at job creation by encouraging and supporting aspiring entrepreneurial youth in Nigeria to develop and execute business ideas. Women were the second edition of the entrepreneurial scheme, which was designed for only female entrepreneurs aged 45 years or less.
