The former Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Universities Commission (NUC), Prof. Peter Okebukola, has admonished publishers of books in Nigeria to start keying into the numerous opportunities being offered by digital books in the current era of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
Okebukola made the call as the guest speaker at the 2017 convention of the Nigeria Publishers Association (NPA), held in Lagos.
According to the former NUC Executive Secretary, while many are lamenting that there has been a drop in the reading habit of Nigerian youths, the reality however is that the youths are actually reading but more on ICT-inspired platforms such as iphone, androids, blackberries, tablets, among other handheld devices that are easy to carry around and are quite accessible.
