Include MAN in revamping Ajaokuta

The Federal Government has announced the constitution of a committee to oversee the revamping and completion of the Ajaokuta Steel Processing Company in Kogi State. This is a laudable initiative.

No doubt, when the plant finally gets on stream, it will rejuvenate the economy and save billions of dollars being expended on steel importation. However, my concern about the membership of the committee is the non-inclusion of the organised private sector. In this regard, I suggest the inclusion of the Nigerian Association of Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) and the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) in order to have an all inclusive approach to the realisation of this viable economic scheme.
