Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Shehu Idris, weekend urged both federal and state governments to make concerted efforts in improving the carrying capacity of different schools under their control to allow youth with requisite qualification get admission.
Alhaji Idris said when youths are admitted into schools, it provides them with opportunity of acquiring skills and this addresses the tendency of youths venturing into crimes.
The emir made this known during the Zaria Education Development Association’s (ZEDA) 4th Annual General Meeting that took place in Zaria.
While urging wealthy Nigerians to imitate Imo State governor’s humanitarian activities, Alhaji Idris thanked Chief Rochas Okorocha for establishing a school that would offer free education to the poor and less privileged in Zaria under the Rochas Foundation.
Kaduna State governor, Nasir el-Rufa’i, said the state government is planning to rehabilitate and build about 7,000 primary and secondary schools across the state in its efforts to bring back the sector to its past place of pride.
Chairman ZEDA’s Board of Trustees, Professor Idris A. Abdulkadir, said the association has been offering programmes, vocational/ICT training, scholarship and other activities that were meant to assist the citizens of Zaria and the general development of the ancient city’s education sector.
