Over 15 industries, which are members of the union have also closed shop during the period according to the  president of CANMPSSAN Comrade Mohammed Abdul Gafar.
Gafar said the fact that most of the closed industries are now being taken over by religious bodies is a manifestation of the collapse of the industrial sector in Nigeria.
However, he explained that the union is watching helplessly as the trend takes a toll on its membership, stressing that it is currently exploring other investment areas to strengthen its activities.
According to him, reliance on check-off dues from members is no longer sustainable due to the disturbing rate of industry closures.
 “In years to come, we are venturing into hospitality business, stock trading and other product investment that would give the union requisite resources to fund its activities,” he said.
Gafar hinted that the union would soon complete its industrial complex situated in Otta,Ogun state.
He urged the federal government to consider the complete re-evaluation of its industrial policies, with such re-evaluation targeted at fixing infrastructure deficit and granting at least  five years waivers to industries.
