Businessman and CEO of UBACLE Group, Chief Uba Michael has called on the federal government to use the occasion of the country’s 64 independence anniversary to do an introspection and come up with ways to promote Made-in-Nigeria products.
He said such support was key to growing the economy and providing jobs which would in a way ease the burden of job creation on the government.
Chief Michael said this when he spoke with journalists in Abuja on Tuesday.
He said, “It’s a good thing that we are celebrating our independence anniversary and I want to use this medium to call on the government to provide the necessary support to local manufacturers and Made-in-Nigeria products.
“Giving preference to foreign products will do no good to our economy. We are looking for ways to resurrect our economy and patronising local products is one of the ways out.
“Aside from strengthening our naira, it is also a thing of pride when a manufacturer sees that he’s getting support from the government in any form whatsoever, this will encourage him to do more.
“It also helps the government to reduce the burden of looking for ways to create jobs as these local manufacturers will need these hands for their production process.
“We need all hands to be on deck to support the recovery of our economy.”
