Indonesia is preparing new crypto tax rules that will start in August 2025. The crypto tax rules will reclassify cryptocurrencies as financial instruments and move regulatory control from Bappebti to the Financial Services Authority (OJK). Amidst this, the WeWake project has launched its new crypto presale, introducing a walletless and gasless onboarding system for crypto users.
Indonesia’s Shift in Crypto Regulation
Indonesia’s new crypto tax rules will create a structured framework for digital assets in Indonesia. OJK Chair Mahendra Siregar stated, “This approach brings crypto under the same supervision as other financial instruments.” These changes also include an expansion of the allowlist of tradable assets, which will nearly double.
Local fintech firms may need to adapt to stricter regulations and increased operating costs. Analysts note that higher tax rates may slow down retail trading, yet clearer oversight could attract more institutional interest. The government’s move aims to establish balance between investor protection and industry growth.
WeWake’s Walletless Solution and Whitepaper Launch
Alongside Indonesia’s regulatory changes, the new crypto presale by WeWake has gained attention. WeWake removes the need for wallets, seed phrases, or gas fees, allowing users to log in with Google or Telegram. The WeWake whitepaper has been published, outlining its zk-rollup Layer 2 chain and ERC-4337 smart wallets.
WeWake is priced at $0.0160 in its 5th presale stage and is expected to list at $0.15. Developers can also use the WeWake SDK to integrate walletless onboarding into their applications. The Paymaster system covers gas fees, which can reduce onboarding friction for new crypto users and developers.
Growth Roadmap for WeWake and Its New Crypto Presale
WeWake’s crypto presale also funds its development roadmap. The team plans to launch its public testnet in Q1 2026 with walletless login, gasless transactions, and a Paymaster API sandbox. A mainnet launch is planned for Q2 2026, including governance and NFT minting support.
The WAKE token supply is set at 308,726,951, with 32% allocated to the presale. Token holders will be able to stake, participate in governance, and access activity rewards. WeWake’s goal is to bring crypto access to mainstream users and developers through a simplified onboarding experience.
