The Industrial Training fund (ITF) has trained 120 physically challenged from six states of the federation on Skills acquisition.
The Physically challenged were drawn fromTaraba, Bayelsa, Kaduna, Nasarawa, Osun and Plateau States.
They were trained on making foot-wears, phone repairs, lady’s wig cap making and manual clothes design and embroidery.
While speaking at the graduation ceremony for Skills Training and Empowerment Programme for the Physically Challenged (STEPP-C) held in Kaduna, the Director General ITF, Sir Joseph Ari said the training was to empower the physical challenged people in the society.
According to him, the training will equip them with skills to strengthen them socially and economically.
“The graduation today of these trainees is our first step in this regard. It commenced in August this year with 120 participants from the states.”
“I urged all the trainees to take full advantage of of opportunity provided by the training to enable them contribute to the economy of this country, he said.
He also urged the beneficiaries to make use of the Start-up kits presented to them judiciously.
ITF Kaduna Area Manager Alhaji Yahaya Bunu said all the stakeholders in the state are interested in what they are doing.
He also said the organisation is ready to work with all the stakeholders in the state.
He also commended the trainees as told them that they will be monitored to see how they are doing at their place of work.
