Some officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the ongoing election said they have neither been paid nor fed.

Some of them that separately spoke to our reporter said no provision was made for their feeding during the polls.
The presiding officer at polling unit 008, National Library, Area 2 Garki, Bamidele Ojekanmi said all the 12 officers at the booth have not eaten adding that it affects their performances.
“As I am talking to you, my stomach is melting. I have not eaten, even water, I have not tasted since morning,” he said.

He said INEC has promised to pay them money instead of food.
He added that the money has not been paid with many of the officers without means of feeding.

On his part, Yakubu Adewale, a presiding officer ll at polling unit 006, Area 2, Garki said he could not tell who gave the INEC adhoc staff at the booth the water they drank.

‘They have not been fair to us, the money they promised has not been. Even they are still owing us the money for the second training,’ said Salaudeen Ibrahim, the presiding officer at polling booth 002, Area 1 Garki.
Ibrahim said all the officials shared a loaf of bread brought by one of them.

Most of the adhoc staff spoke in faint voice while some became aggressive at the end of the exercise.
