The Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), yesterday condole the family of the Deputy Superintendent of Police, (DSP), Mohammed Alkali, who was murdered during the re-run election in Rivers State recently.

DSP Alkali of Mobile Police Unit 48, along with his orderly were murdered while on election duty at Ujju community near Omoku in Ogba/Edema/Ndoni council area of the state.

INEC led two delegations in a separate condolence to the London Street, Dutsenkura and Lawu Street, Area Court area all of Bosso Local Government Area of Niger State, where they met with the wife and parents of the slain officer.

The delegations were separately led by a National Commissioner, Malam Mohammed Haruna and Resident Electoral Commissioner for the state, Malam Nasir O. Ayilara. 

The duo decried the violence that trailed the re-run election and prayed for the reposed of the soul of the officer, which the commission described as a “dedicated and diligent” officer of the police cut down in his prime.
