A renowned Constitutional Lawyer, Professor Itse Sagay has called on Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to reverse the time-table of next year general elections that brought forward Presidential poll as the first part of the elections saying “it is an unnecessary land mine prime to explode in 2015. ”

Prof. Sagay also caution INEC that all past election malpractices, including those of Edo and Anambra governorship elections in 2012 and 2014 respectively, must be firmly eliminated and completely avoided in the forthcoming Ekiti and Osun State governorship elections, including next year general elections.

The Constitutional lawyer stated these today while giving lecture at the  June 12, 2014 anniversary to mark  21 years of annulment of June 12, 1993 Presidential elections by military government.

Giving the lecture on The Continuing Significance of June 12 under the theme: June 12 and 4th Republic Challenges at Lagos Television ground in Ikeja, Prof. Sagay draw people’s attention to the INEC order of elections for 2015.

The professor said, “Once again, the Presidential election has been brought forward to the first part of the elections,thus again employing the Ovie-Whisky Formular for guaranteeing the victory of the ruling party through inevitable manipulation which is automatically followed by the bandwagon effect. 

“This is an unnecessary land mine primed to explode in 2015. Fortunately, there is still time to reverse this clearly perverse and mischievous decision. I hereby call on Jega led INEC, in the interest of peace, order, stability, justice and democracy, to reverse the announced order and make the Presidential election, the last. ”

Professor Sagay also berated the controversy that trailed religion of who will be Governor Babatunde Fashola’s successor. He described controversy generated by those clamouring for a particular religion to be given a chance as a sign of social degeneration and a slide into backwardness.
