Hours before voting kicks off in Osun on August 9, the elections agency insists its objective is to make sure every vote counts.

Head of Independent National Electoral Commission, Attahiru Jega, said the agency was determined to conduct free, fair and credible elections that will be difficult to challenge in any court of law.

He told a stakeholders forum ahead of Saturday’s election that the outcome of voting will be impressive.

“Our goal in Ssun state election is to make it the best ever conducted in Nigeria,” Jega said.

“The one which the outcome will be difficult to dispute and the one which the winner will be the one the people want.”

He also advised staff of the commission to refuse any inducement from desperate politicians, warning that those who fall short of the commission’s vision would be severely dealt with.
