Save the Child Initiative says it has intervened in 18 cases of sexually abused children in Sokoto and secured conviction of six culprits.
The convictions were recorded in three local government areas.
Chief Executive of the initiative Abdulganiyu Abubakar, who disclosed this in Sokoto, said some cases were ongoing in courts.
He however noted that parents withdraw from most of the cases for fear of stigma.
Abubakar said the initiative had established Child Protection Committees comprising people at various communities in the state.
"They are the ones who report such cases in their various localities," he stated.
He added, "We conduct trainings for them on how to identify early warning signs, children who are traumatized."
