Galatasaray manager, Okan Buruk, has admitted that the Turkish champions are constantly uneasy whenever star striker, Victor Osimhen, leaves to represent Nigeria.

The Super Eagles forward, who has become indispensable for both club and country, was forced out of Nigeria’s 1-0 victory over Rwanda in Uyo on Saturday with a foot injury.

The setback has now ruled him out of today’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against South Africa in Bloemfontein.

Buruk said the incident once again highlighted Galatasaray’s biggest fear whenever Osimhen travels for international duty.

“We are always afraid to send him to the national team,” the coach told Now Spor, as quoted by Habersarikirmizi.

“If there is a problem with Osimhen, we want to send a plane immediately and bring him back to Türkiye. We hope it’s nothing serious.”

The Turkish tactician recalled how he first received the troubling news while at dinner.
“I was at the table when a waiter brought me a phone showing the report about Osimhen.

“We contacted him immediately and the information was that he has pain in his foot,” he explained.

Osimhen’s absence is a huge blow for the Super Eagles, who must now face Bafana Bafana without their talisman as they continue their push for a World Cup ticket.
