The Impact Hub Abuja, a social innovation hub, was on Thursday formally unveiled to harness and boost existing network among the nation’s innovators, entrepreneurs, leaders and changemakers.

Speaking at the event in Abuja, co-cofounder/chief executive of Impact Hub Abuja, Olalekan Oshunkoya, said the move was a rebranding and transition of Impact Central Social Innovation Hub to Impact Hub Abuja, as part of measures to accelerate their impact by accessing global resources and connections to expand their business and engender sustainable innovations for national development.

He said that it is important to broaden the horizon of Nigeria’s technology and entrepreneurship for entrepreneurs and others to co-create sustainable solutions to solving big and small societal challenges.

“We are excited to announce our transition into the global Impact Hub network, bringing exciting opportunities to our local community of impact founders, entrepreneurs, leaders and change makers to accelerate their impact by accessing global resources, connections and community to expand their enterprise and deliver sustainable innovations at a scale,” Oshunkoya said.

He said that the dream of the co-founding team comprising himself, Benita Ezumezu, Adesoji Adeyemi, Mofoyeke Omole and Gideon Olanrewaju, was to see Nigerians maximally benefiting and create greater opportunities for fellow citizens and others globally.

Oshunkoya said the launch was an opportunity to bring the world to entrepreneurs, change makers and innovators in Abuja.

He said, “We are more than just a space, Impact Hub is a community and a place for entrepreneurs, leaders, and changemakers to collaborate, connect, create, and challenge the status quo. As we join the Impact Hub family Abuja location, we bring over 110 hub communities, 300,000 plus members in more than 67 countries in five regions and over 1,200 impact makers.

“We envisioned a locally rooted and globally connected community of and for bold, ambitious thinkers who are committed and fierce to use the incredible power of entrepreneurship for social good and contribute to a better world and a better self through bold and transformative innovation at scale.”
